2. So, laminated glass or tempered?
2.1 Definition
2.1.1 what is tempered glass: Tempered glass is made by heating and cooling a piece of standard glass in a tempering furnace. The glass, which must be pre-cut and edged before being put into the tempering furnace, is heated to approximately 1200°F and then cooled rapidly.

2.1.2 what is laminated glass: Laminated glass is basically a glass sandwich. It is made of two or more plies of glass with a vinyl interlayer between (sandwiched, if you will, as in a car's windshield).
2.2 Pros:
2.2.1 Tempered glass: the tempered glass is approximately 4 to 5 times stronger than annealed glass, and therefore more resistant to breakage. If it does break, tempered glass shatters in small pieces that are less likely to cause injury or damage than non-tempered glass.
2.2.2 Laminated glass: The glass will tend to remain bonded together when it is broken - thus qualifying as a safety glazing material.
2.3 what should we choose.
2.3.1 Normally, the choice of glass depends on what kind of systems you choose. If you choose a balustrade system with a handrail, which is placed on the top of the glass to fixed the glass panels together. In that system, all the glass panels are tied as one panel, so the entire structure is sturdier and more solid. And what's more, if one panel of the glass breaks, the rest of the system can withstand the load. In that case, both tempered glass and laminated glass can be used.
2.3.2 If you choose balustrades without handrails. then laminated glass must be used, so that even one side of the glass breaks, the whole glass panel will still be capable of withstanding the load.
3. "Tell me, what type of balustrade system should I choose?"

In terms of the structure, the balustrade systems can be divided into two groups:

Structured glass, b) infill glass

3.1 Structured glass means the glass is the structural part, if you lean on the balustrade, the force will be imposed on the glass. It is also sometimes referred to as a frameless glass balustrade or a cantilevered glass balustrade. For this type, we have a Standoff pin system, spigot system, and U channel (shoe profile) system.
3.1.1 Stand-off pin balustrade system.
This is the most economical system, the glass is fixed to the side of the slab with stainless steel stand-off pins, properly designed and tested to withstand the required structural load. If you want to achieve a low cost, elegant and simple designed frameless glass balustrade, the standoff pins system is probably the best choice for you.
However, sometimes, the material or the structure of the construction does not allow the standoff pin fixing.
For commercial and public buildings, for the exterior balustrade of tall buildings, the standoff pin balustrade is not recommended.
3.1.2 Spigot/Talon/Stirrup/footer balustrade system.
Given several names, they are all the same thing, the stainless-steel clamps fixed on the floor to support the glass panel. It is probably the balustrade system with the simplest installation. Its style is simple and clean. The clamps however have to be tested to withstand the load required load applied on the glass balustrade. Normally this system is used for swimming pool glass fences or low-rise buildings. And we do not recommend this system be used for commercial and public buildings.
3.1.3 Aluminum U channel profile.
This is probably the most popular balustrade system these days. It is also known as an aluminum shoe profile system.
